Dr. Jialing Zhang

Principal Investigator

Dr. Jialing Zhang obtained his B.S. in material chemistry at Nankai University where he began the research in organic synthesis, focusing on photochromic materials of naphthopyran derivatives, under the guidance of Prof. Meili Pang. After graduating from Nankai, Jialing started his Ph.D studies in the laboratory of Prof. Huwei Liu and Prof. Yu Bai at Peking University. His doctoral research focused on developing novel ambient ionization mass spectrometry techniques and their applications. During his PhD, he spent twelve months abroad at Stanford University, working on molecular diagnosis using mass spectrometry imaging under the advisement of Prof. Richard N. Zare. In 2015, he began his postdoctoral research with Prof. Livia S. Eberlin at the University of Texas at Austin. Jialing began as an assistant faculty member of the Chemistry Department at Hong Kong Baptist University starting April 2021, with continued research interests in the broad fields of artificial intelligence and mass spectrometry for cancer research.
